“Being natural is not a statement, it is the closest I can get to being myself!” – Unknown
A lot of African women do not have natural hair. And I go a strp further to say that a lot of African women who are considered to be role models do not have natural hair. And I feel that plays a role in what young African girls conside pretty. How will African girls perceive natural hair as pretty if they do not SEE enough of gorgeous, beautiful natural hair around them?
So yes, I salute and acknowledge my African sistahs who have natural hair and I hope more of African women will join the club! Pwetty, pretty please!
And thus, below are 5 beautiful African women who make natural hair look so darn good:
1. Nse Etim
I love this Nigerian actress. She owns every role that she plays. I love her in Mr & Mrs. I love her in Pretty Liars (Oh my dear, Shania! Lol). She is an excellent actress. And I think she has one of the most adorable love stories. And guess what? She got married to a friend and former classmate of hers whom, for years, she had lost contact with. Upon reconnecting, sparks flew lol. Rockets launched lol. Cupid cried happy tears lol. Lol, at least in my imagination, that is how it happened. Anyhoo, just look at her hair! Isn’t it gorgeous? I love it!
2. Sheila Ndinda
Sheila is an amazing Kenyan natural hair blogger. And she has amazing educative articles and video tutorials on it.
Below is a recent youtube post of hers:
3. Carol Odero
Carol is a renowned fashion journalist who is credited for being one of the pioneers of fashion journalism in her home country, Kenya. She is known for her fiery red hair, unique sense of style and amazing personality.
4. Chidinma
Who doesn’t know Chidinma? Sorry, the right question is who doesn’t love Chidinma? I remember her mega hit ‘Kedike.’ Great song! And she has been doing big, big things since then. I love her hair. Don’t you?
5. Shirley Godwin
Lol y’all be thinking did she really add herself to the list? Tooting her own horn much? Lol yep, I sure am tooting the heck out of this horn. I deserve to be on this list for rocking the natural hair for almost ten years. *wink wink* And don’t I just wear it so beautifully? The answer should be yes by the way lol.
